... This small terrestrial orchid is an eastern North America native. Mine are less than five inches tall but in the wild they can reach eight to ten inches in height. They like a rich, woodland soil out of direct sun. Up until recently they were part of the genus Orchis but I guess some taxonomist figured out what they really were.
